King sets sights on Stag
By Adam Summers

THE Terras will look to secure back-to-back home victories this afternoon when they lock horns with AFC Totton for the fourth time this season (3pm).

A stunning volley from Stephen Reed led Weymouth to a 3-1 victory over St Albans City on New Year’s Eve and boss Brendon King is hoping for more of the same against the high-flying Stags.

He told Echosport: “That victory over St Albans was massive because they are a very good side. They are strong and they have experienced players in the likes of Paul Furlong and Micah Hyde so to come away with the three points was a fantastic effort.

“However, we must now turn our attention to Totton who will also be a very tough proposition.

“We have played them three times already this season and we know each other well so it promises to be another fantastic game and hopefully there will be another good turnout.”

A crowd of 720 watched the victory over the Saints and every single one of them will never forget Reed’s incredible opening goal.

King added: “The move leading up to the strike was very good indeed but I don’t think a lot of people expected Reedy to score from there.

“That is the sort of technique he possesses though and it is certainly one of the best strikes I have seen down here for a long time.

“The only disappointing thing was the way we let St Albans back in it after leading 2-0 at half-time.

“I asked the boys to keep it tight early in the second half but instead we gave them a sniff by conceding a poor goal.

“However, it did not cost us this time as the boys went on to show great resilience and character to go on and get a third.”

This afternoon the Terras will be without the suspended Ben Gerring and midfielder James Coutts, whose loan deal does not permit him to play against his parent club.

King will also have to make a decision on whether to stick with Nick Jordan between the posts or recall Tom Manley, who dropped to the bench against the Saints.
