King embarrassed by Arlesey defeat
By Adam Summers
Monday 9th January 2012
BRENDON King was left embarrassed by his sides shock
demise at Arlesey Town on Saturday.
The Terras gifted the Blues a three-goal lead in the first
half and although Craig Duff got one back late on it did nothing
to curb the visiting managers frustration at the final
whistle.
King said: It is all well and good beating the likes
of AFC Totton and St Albans but we have got to come to places
like this and get results.
Sometimes away from home you have got to win ugly by
rolling your sleeves up and digging in but once again we did
not do that and it is something we have got to look at as
a management team.
We did not compete or close down in the first half.
The back four were poor and to give a side a 3-0 lead like
we did was very disappointing indeed. In fact, it felt embarrassing.
The players have received a lot of plaudits and pats
on the back over the past couple of weeks but to be fair we
would have changed all 11 players at half-time if we could
have because no one had earned their shirt.
I felt let down and now it is a case of returning to
the drawing board and making sure we react in the right way
on Saturday against Alfreton Town in the second round of the
FA Trophy.
I will be expecting a response that day and I am sure
the players will do everything they can to make amends.
Ben Gerring was not included in the squad due to ongoing
disciplinary reasons with King insisting the matter is being
dealt with in-house.
The defeat has seen Weymouth fall to 12th in the Evo-Stik
Southern Premier, 10 points adrift of the play-offs.
* Weymouth FC will hold a general meeting in the Weyline
Lounge at the Bob Lucas Stadium tonight.
It will start at 7pm and everyone is welcome with the evening
finishing with a questions and answers session.
If anyone has any questions they wish to raise, then email
