King: Underdogs Terras can have
their day
By Adam Summers
Friday 13th January 2012
BRENDON King believes his underdogs possess enough bite to
shock Alfreton Town at the Bob Lucas Stadium tomorrow (3pm).
Thirty-seven places currently separate the two sides in the
football pyramid but the Terras boss is adamant his
charges have what it takes to give the Blue Square Bet Premier
outfit a huge fright.
Speaking ahead of the FA Trophy second round tie, King told
Echosport: It is a huge game and there is no doubt we
are massive underdogs but in the four walls of the changing
room we believe we can pull it off.
It is going to be very tough and we are going to need
everyone on full throttle to do it but with a big crowd behind
us we feel we have enough about us to hurt them.
Ben Gerring, who missed last weekends 3-1 defeat at
Arlesey Town in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier due to a club
suspension, is expected to replace cup-tied defender Alex
Jeannin in the Terras starting XI, where Matt Groves
is also likely to feature after spending the last two games
on the bench.
King added: There has been a bit of flu in the camp
with Stephen Reed and Nick Jordan both having gone down with
it earlier this week but hopefully they will be okay and apart
from that everyone is buzzing.
It is a great opportunity for the lads to really show
what they can do. Our aim as a club is to one day get back
to the Confer-ence and this will give us a little pointer
as to where we are in regards to achieving that.
These types of games are what we work so hard for and
as long as the lads come off the field tomorrow with no regrets,
having given everything, then that is all you can ask for.
Alfreton currently sit in the drop-zone in non-Leagues
top-flight on goal difference and it has been on their travels
where they have experienced most of their problems, claiming
just six points from 14 games.
King said: They score a few goals but they concede
a few too so as long as we set up properly and are ultra disciplined,
we will stand every chance with the quality we possess going
forward.
The lads have tended to respond to the crowd in the
big home games this season and hopefully that will be the
case again.
The winners will not only see their name entered into the
hat for the last 16 on Monday but they will also bag £6,000
in prize money.
Admission to tomorrows game is £11 for adults,
£8 for concessions and £3 for children and the
unemployed.
