Terras wait for thumbs up from duo
By Adam Summers

IAN Hutchinson is still awaiting confirmation that new-signings Courtney Pitt and Rob Wolleaston will be available to play in tomorrow’s FA Cup second qualifying round tie at Swindon Supermarine (3pm).

The ex-Cambridge United duo impressed on their debuts in last Saturday’s defeat against Cambridge City and the Weymouth boss is hopeful that “at least one of them” will make the trip to the Webbs Wood Stadium.

Hutchinson said: “I am still waiting for confirmation from the two new boys. Hopefully we will have at least one of them but it is something we are still working on.

“If neither of them can make it then we will just have to crack on but fingers crossed they will be available as they give us that extra bit of quality, which we saw last Saturday against Cambridge.

“As for other team news, Sam Clarke is still a doubt with his back problem while Sam Charles is away and unavailable. Simon Radcliffe is the other one out at the moment.

“He has started to pick up on his fitness work but is still undergoing treatment on his foot and ankle.”

The Marine are unbeaten in their last seven games while Weymouth have lost three out of their last four but in knockout competitions, particularly the FA Cup, the form book is often thrown out the window.

The two teams played out a goalless league draw on August 19 and following last weekend’s positive performance against the Zamaretto Premier Division leaders, who were completely flattered by their 3-0 victory at the Bob Lucas Stadium, Hutchinson is optimistic about his side’s chances.

He added: “It is a chance to earn the club a few more pennies and keep building on what we are trying to achieve. If we play like we did last Saturday then we will stand half a chance but we are well aware it is going to be a tough game.

“Supermarine have not lost in their last seven games so we will be going into it as underdogs but that is not always a bad thing. All we can do is go there and give a good account of ourselves, and hopefully that will be enough to gain us a place in the next round.”

Swindon lie 10th in the table and have three ex-Terras in their ranks in midfielders Chris Allen and Jamie Gosling, and assistant manager Tom Jones.

Victory for Weymouth will see their FA Cup winnings rise from £3,000 to £4,500. A draw will see a replay take place at the Bob Lucas Stadium next Tuesday or Thursday.

Meanwhile, ex-Fulham striker Barry Hayles has turned down moves to Weymouth and Chesham United in favour of a one-month non-contract deal at Truro City.
