Mawer and Clarke in cup doubt

WEYMOUTH duo Sam Clarke and Cameron Mawer are both doubts
ahead of tomorrows clash at Taunton Town in the first
qualifying round of the FA Cup (3pm).
Clarke (foot) has only just returned to light training while
Mawer is still nursing a dead leg, which he picked up in last
Saturdays 1-0 defeat at Leamington in the Zamaretto
Premier Division.
Meanwhile, Matt Oldring is in contention for a recall following
a two-match ban. The full-back came through 90 minutes for
the reserves on Wednesday in a 4-2 victory over Merley Cobham
Sports.
Hutchinson said: Sam is still touch and go and with
fixtures coming thick and fast again, it might be best to
leave him out but we wont make a final decision on him
until the last minute. Cameron is also struggling with a dead
leg but hopefully he will be fit and available.
As for Matt, he came through the reserve-team game
on Wednesday very well but again his possible inclusion in
the squad is another decision that we will make later on today.
With the reserves having had their game tomorrow postponed
it gives a big pool of players to choose from and against
Merley Cobham Sports there were some decent displays.
The Terras will bag £3,000 if they overcome their Zamaretto
Division One South & West opponents but Hutchinson is
taking nothing for granted.
He added: Taunton may play in a lower league but we
will have to be on our game. There is a lot of money at stake
for both clubs and it is important we go there and be as professional
as we can.
The FA Cup is a very famous competition, and although
we are not going to go all the way, it is important we go
as far as we can both for the fans and of course financial
reasons.
The Peacocks are 10th, having claimed seven points from their
opening five matches. However, they have not won in three
attempts at Wordsworth Drive and will no doubt be going all
out tomorrow to give their home fans something to cheer.
Hutchinson said: It is all about how we approach the
game. If we give a good account of ourselves I fully expect
to come away with the victory. And I am sure we will have
a good following there as well, which will also play a big
part.
As for trying to boost his ranks, Hutchinson has turned his
attentions to other targets following his failed attempt to
lure ex-Dorchester Town skipper Kevin Hill to the club.
He added: I spoke to a couple of players yesterday
morning but nothing is even close to happening so we will
just keep going as we are and keep giving lads the chance
to stake a claim.
