Byerley: Terras can stay up

WARREN Byerley is adamant that the Terras have what it takes
to survive in the Zamaretto Premier Division.
The in-form striker netted twice in the 2-1 win at Taunton
Town at the weekend and he now has his sights firmly set on
shooting down table-toppers Cambridge City, who are due to
visit the Bob Lucas Stadium for a top-versus-bottom clash
this Saturday.
Byerleys FA Cup brace at Wordsworth Road was further
proof of his growing confidence under manager Ian Hutchinson,
who the striker believes has helped re-invigorate his career
after a frustrating time at Dorchester Town last season.
He said: Hutch and Andy Mason have a good thing going
and they have helped me a lot. There is an amazing team spirit
in the camp and everyone is relishing the challenge big time
at the minute.
We are also confident that we will get out of the situation
we currently find ourselves in. In fact, there are no doubts
in our minds, and if Hutch can add a couple more players like
we know he wants to, we will be there.
Byerley went on to add: Last season I had a few injuries
and it was just about getting back fit but at Dorchester I
never got a good run in the team.
That just made me even more determined and over the
summer I worked hard and lost a stone in weight, which I have
benefited a lot from.
I have to thank Sean Ferguson at Physiques and Shapes
Health Club in Dorchester for that. He has helped me a lot
and allowed me to use all his equipment, which has been fantastic.
It feels like all that hard work is really paying off
and it was certainly nice scoring two goals at Taunton on
Saturday. Hopefully, I can carry on building on that now,
stay injury free, and have a good year.
Unbeaten Cambridge are expected to be formidable opp-onents
on Saturday, having claimed 17 points from their opening seven
games but Byer-ley believes his Weymouth side have nothing
to fear.
He said: When we play well we are a match for anyone
in this league and we showed that at Salisbury City earlier
in the season.
They are supposed to be one of the favourites to go
up but we went there and outplayed them for 70 minutes and
it was only their full-time fitness that probably told in
the end.
We are capable of beating anyone at this standard and
we just need to start believing that. Once we get that first
home win everyone will get behind us even more and then we
will be off and running, I have no doubts about that.
Weymouth remain stranded at the bottom of the table on minus
four points, nine adrift of safety.
