Gill out to upset his former club

JERRY Gill will return to the scene of where he once ended
Weymouths FA Cup dreams, hoping to shake the Terras
from their nightmare at the hands of Basingstoke Towns
Mitchell Bryant.
With Saturdays 6-0 thumping still fresh in the minds
of the Wessex Stadium faithful, Gill has the task of giving
everyone a lift ahead of Tuesdays free-entry home match
with Braintree Town by taking all three points from former
employers Bath City tomorrow (3pm).
Gill netted in the Romans 2-0 FA Cup win over Weymouth
in October 10, 1992, and would go on to enjoy a famous first
round win over Cardiff City soon after, but the less glamorous
task of Blue Square South survival is arguably much more important.
Bath are a very hardworking team and look to get forward
early and play down the sides, said Gill, who spent
six years at Twerton Park in the early 90s. Their two
centre halves are physical and strong and anything pumped
down the middle they will eat up all afternoon.
Weymouth were crushed 6-0 at the hands of Basingstoke Town
on Saturday and saw their chance of redemption ruined by the
weather on Tuesday because of a waterlogged pitch at Welling
United.
I understand the fans frustrations but all I
can say is we are trying to go in the right direction,
said Gill. I just hope people see that Im doing
my utmost and that people understand there was never going
to be a quick fix.
I hope they can support and back me, but more importantly
back the players. I can take their stick, Im very thick-skinned
but the players need their support.
I was disgusted and embarrassed by Saturday but lets
hope we can start the game on Tuesday on the back of a positive
result from Bath.
On-loan midfielder Ben Farrell (hamstring) is out for three
weeks and will receive treatment back in Cambridge, Jordan
Rose serves the last match of his suspension while Pierre
Joseph-Dubois (hamstring) is doubtful.
Josh Llewellyn (ankle) missed training on Tuesday but is
expected to be fit for tomorrow while Martin Slocombe (ankle)
and Matt Groves (tonsillitis) should also feature.
