Gill keeps the focus

BROMLEYS current problems on and off the field will
not concern Weymouth manager Jerry Gill as he prepares to
take his side to Kent for tomorrows Blue Square South
clash (3pm).
The play-off chasing hosts currently lie at the bottom of
the form table and have also had issues with top scorer Warren
McBean that saw him dropped from the starting XI for their
last two matches.
Meanwhile, Gills Terras have had much improved performances
after he was able to scout his last two opponents first hand,
but the Weymouth boss has had to revert to a 21st century
method to see for himself how Bromley play.
Its always about us, he said. What
goes on inside other clubs is their issue all I can
control is what we do when we walk out on that field to give
a committed performance.
Whether its the right or wrong time to play them
doesnt concern me.
These club websites are wonderful things. Ive
been on their site and looked at their games, had them watched
and spoken to other managers about them.
Ive done my homework and understand their system
but we have to respect these teams because they are all higher
than us in the league at the moment. Its a tough encoun-ter
and we need to take that positive stuff we gained on Tuesday
into tomorrow.
Matt Groves late equaliser at home to Braintree was
celebrated like the winning goal in the FA Cup final and Gill
is pleased that his players were able to show that their unity
remains intact.
That shows me that we have got a togetherness
it was brilliant, even our substitutes were running down the
touchline to join in the celebrations, he said. I
want those lads to take that into tomorrow because anything
less than that for 90 minutes wont be enough.
Meanwhile, on the transfer front, Gill revealed that winger
Dan Smith had been released but ruled out that he had moved
for Cardiff Citys Canadian goalkeeper Jordan Santiago
on loan.
I havent a clue who he is, insisted Gill,
when asked about Santiago.
Regarding Smith, who left by mutual agreement this week,
Gill added: I havent got a lot of money to spend
and need to spend that on other areas of the squad.
Chairman George Rolls claimed this week that the club had
the smallest budget in the league, and Gill says he understands
that the club needs to work within its means, as hard as it
was making it to bring in new players.
I think this club has been used far too much as a gravy
train in the past and that needs to stop, said Gill.
Me, the chairman and Gary Calder need to make sure things
are kept in a stringent budget.
Ben Farrell (hamstring) remains a couple of weeks away from
returning but Josh Llewellyn (ankle) and Pierre Joseph-Dubois
(hamstring) are in a race to be fit.
